Sony Set to Release An Electric Honda Car Controlled by PS5 Controller

It feels like a gamer’s dream come true, but Sony has unveiled the idea that you can actually drive a car with a controller from a gaming console. This isn’t just a kid’s toy; Sony has elevated it to a new level by exhibiting a fully working Honda replica that can be controlled with a PlayStation 5 (PS5) controller.

The Sony Honda Mobility

Born out of a collaboration established in 2021, Sony Honda Mobility has unveiled its inaugural electric car, affectionately named ‘AFEELA.’ The collaborative team has ambitious plans to bring this groundbreaking vehicle to the market by the year 2025. This timeline provides an opportunity for enthusiasts to dive into the world of PS5 before missing out on the exhilarating experience.

Social media platforms are buzzing with excitement as both gamers and non-gamers alike marvel at this extraordinary creation. According to Izumi Kawanishi, the Chief Operating Officer of the company, the innovation doesn’t stop here. There are plans to elevate the concept by working on a fully autonomous, self-driving car in the near future.

Sony Honda Mobility shared this groundbreaking information during a recent showcase. Kawanishi took the stage to introduce ‘AFEELA,’ demonstrating the car’s capabilities by personally driving it using a PS5 Dual Sense Controller. While the demonstration was relatively short in time and distance, it showcased the seamless movement of the car, surpassing the mechanics found in some video games.

But Kawanishi made it clear that the demonstration was more of a technology showpiece than a workable driving option for regular people. Gamers are full of speculation, with some speculating that this may be a calculated marketing ploy for an impending game release.

The COO’s earlier remarks on a collaboration between Sony and Gran Turismo creator Polyphony Digital provide credence to this rumor. Kawanishi teased that the partnership will result in the development of a new vehicle, but he did not specify if this vehicle would be a virtual construct inside a video game or something else entirely.
