Roblox is rolling out a TikTok-like feature called Roblox Moments, giving users the ability to capture, edit, and share 30-second gameplay clips in a scrollable feed. Announced at the Roblox Developers Conference, the update comes alongside higher payouts for creators, new AI tools, and major platform upgrades.
Good to know
Moments lets players trim clips, add music, and share them with the community. Others can react with emojis or jump straight into the featured game. Roblox says the rollout will be gradual to fine-tune moderation and keep content age-appropriate.
Creators will also gain access to API tools later this year, allowing them to highlight trending clips or create in-game leaderboards.
Roblox increased the Developer Exchange rate so creators now earn $380 for every 100,000 Robux, up from $350. The company noted that top developers are already averaging close to $1 million annually, nearly triple 2020 levels.
New AI features let creators generate fully interactive objects like vehicles or weapons from text prompts. Roblox also unveiled real-time voice chat translation for English, Spanish, French, and German, set to arrive next year.
In addition, new text-to-speech and speech-to-text APIs will enable narrated NPCs, instant dialogue, and voice-triggered gameplay actions such as firing cannons.
Roblox introduced a new Server Authority mode to reduce cheating and improve physics. Avatars will soon run, climb, and vault with natural motion, while advanced hand movements will add realism. Fidelity upgrades across devices are also coming, with no extra work required from developers.
