OverKnights Reveals Economy and Airdrop Plans in Roadmap

Share

Obitus Games is giving players a clearer picture of how OverKnights—its upcoming free-to-play card battler—plans to blend competitive gameplay with blockchain rewards. The new preview covers both the game’s economy and its play-to-airdrop (P2A) campaign, offering a first look at how players will be able to earn, spend, and trade using the $OVC token.

Good to know

  • OverKnights runs on Immutable and features ranked PvP matches with on-chain rewards.
  • The game avoids pay-to-win mechanics, focusing instead on earning through play.
  • Players can sell earned NFTs to collect $OVC tokens via the in-game marketplace.

OverKnights isn’t just another web3 card game. It’s aiming to create a more balanced and sustainable game economy—one that allows free-to-play players to earn meaningful rewards without needing to shell out for every upgrade. At the heart of it all is $OVC, the game’s upcoming token, and a marketplace where players trade in-game assets like Cards, Parts, and Cosmetics.

Most of the game’s earning mechanics revolve around competitive PvP play in a ranked mode called Climb of the Libra Tower. Every win brings a shot at limited-time, collectible NFTs. Players who miss out during a given window can still buy what they need from others through the player-run in-game marketplace.

The NFTs available in OverKnights include Booster Packs, Cards, Parts, and Cosmetics. Cards and Parts affect gameplay and strategy, while Cosmetics allow for more visual flair. Booster Packs are a key way to acquire more Cards and Parts, and they come in various rarities.

Players can also pick up extras like Battle Passes and Reward Boosters using $OVC. Battle Passes unlock special missions with premium rewards, and Reward Boosters give a bump in goodies for each ranked win. Daily limits will be set to cap how many packs can be bought, keeping the pace fair for all players.

So how do you get your hands on $OVC? The main path is by selling the NFTs you earn. The in-game marketplace works with an orderbook model, where you can place listings for your items. Once someone buys them, you receive $OVC—with a small fee going back to the studio. To help keep the token economy in balance, the developers plan to buy back and burn $OVC using game-generated revenue over time.

There’s also an easy onboarding plan for those who don’t usually use crypto. Players will be able to buy $OVC directly in-game without needing a separate wallet setup or any deep crypto knowledge.

Before the full launch, Obitus Games will kick off a Play to Airdrop campaign—giving players a chance to earn $OVC ahead of the token generation event (TGE). According to the roadmap, the campaign will run across three seasons and include two main ways to play and earn: Prize Pool Leaderboards and Questing.

Players in the top PvP ranks during each season can win USDC rewards, while quests—likely including both in-game tasks and social missions—will offer $OVC airdrop allocations. Players can also buy a VIP Pass to increase their rewards during both events.

Those who already hold a Genesis Pilot NFT (which sold out recently) can expect added benefits, including bonus quests and maximum multipliers during the airdrop campaign.

Obitus hasn’t shared exact timelines yet, but between the free-to-play setup, tradable NFTs, and early earning opportunities, OverKnights looks set to bring both strategy and real-world value into one card-based experience.
