In order to finance the impending Season Zero launch of the online sports brawler Sparkball, developer Opti Games has raised a $2 million fundraising round. Alongside renowned investors CMS Holdings, Impossible Finance, Yield Guild Games (YGG), and Monad, L1D spearheaded the funding. With this additional funding, Opti Games will be able to add more gameplay to Sparkball and provide an engaging experience for players.
Sparkball offers a fresh take on online sports gaming, combining traditional sports tactics with intense combat. In this dynamic 4v4 game, players compete to score goals using an array of unique heroes, each bringing distinctive abilities and styles. This innovative format encourages teamwork, strategy, and skill, making it an exciting experience for players seeking something beyond typical sports games. According to Opti Games, this mix of combat and sports was designed to give players a novel, engaging challenge.
Opti Games has been dedicated to Sparkball’s development journey for nearly nine years, showcasing both resilience and a commitment to creativity. Now, the newly acquired funding will drive Season Zero forward, enabling the team to refine the game’s mechanics and improve the experience for players.
To foster a vibrant gaming ecosystem, Opti Games has been collaborating with several key gaming communities, such as Wolves DAO, YGG, and XBorg. These partnerships have contributed to game development and playtesting, providing valuable feedback to strengthen Sparkball’s design and gameplay. The funds will also support Sparkadia, a new platform dedicated to enhancing the player journey within the Sparkball universe.
Though the official release date for Season Zero remains undisclosed, Opti Games is confident that the recent investment will allow them to deliver an experience that meets player expectations.
