The Animoca Brands-backed Web3 game Moonray has formally revealed that it will soon be available on the PlayStation 5. This is an important milestone for the game as it expands beyond the PC and is scheduled for release later next year. This significant platform expansion coincides with Moonray’s recent success with “Godspawn NFTs,” whose inaugural collection sold out within the first-come, first-served period.
The 5,000 free-mint “Godspawn NFTs” that Moonray recently offered sold out in a flash, with 4,573 NFTs being claimed by assured spot holders. The floor price is 0.008 ETH at the moment. Later in 2024, the game’s native MNRY token will launch, giving NFT holders access to special events, airdrops, and in-game tools that will improve player experiences and increase community involvement.
Originally launched in early access in 2022, Moonray features competitive multiplayer options like 4v4 arenas and expansive battle royale modes. Currently playable on the Epic Games Store, the game offers NFT holders perks, including early access to upcoming features and in-game items. The anticipated PlayStation launch will enhance accessibility for a wider audience, building on the game’s initial success.
Moonray Studios, founded in 2021, has expanded its universe through different media, including a graphic novel series written by comic artist Brandon Graham. Available in stores like Midtown Comics and Barnes & Noble, the series deepens the lore of Moonray’s unique universe. Moonray Studios has also collaborated with Reel FX to develop an animated series, further enhancing the Moonray experience for fans across multiple formats.
According to Moonray Studios’ co-founder and CBO Hans Andersson, the Godspawn NFTs represent an essential part of the Moonray ecosystem, providing “access to exclusive in-game items, early access to playtests, and questing events.” He emphasized Moonray’s commitment to its Web3 audience, noting the importance of rewarding early adopters and dedicated NFT holders with valuable in-game enhancements. Andersson added, “While we focus on consoles as an important platform to reach broader audiences, we want to continue rewarding our web3 community.”
The strong demand for Moonray’s NFTs reflects a broader resurgence in the NFT market, which recorded over $91 million in transactions this past week. With the industry’s growing momentum, driven by events like ApeFest2024 and Token2049, Moonray’s progress signals its increasing relevance within both the gaming and Web3 communities, making it a title to watch as it expands across platforms and builds its metaverse experience.
