This gathering will spotlight the world’s foremost esports talents over an eight-week celebration, uniting renowned titles and athletes in a display of global competitive spirit.
At the heart of the festival, the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason will assemble 12 international teams vying for a $3 million USD prize pool, with the victors securing a spot in the year-end Honor of Kings Invitational Championship. The competition is set to commence in August, shining a spotlight on the elite KPL Dream Team from China as the first confirmed participant. This all-star team hails from the King Pro League, the apex of Honor of Kings competition in China. The announcement also teases the introduction of more teams and opportunities for emerging talents to step into the limelight. An exclusive in-game skin, developed in collaboration between the Esports World Cup and Honor of Kings, will mark the occasion.
James Yang, Senior Director of Level Infinite Global Esports Center at Tencent Games, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “The Esports World Cup is an exciting and unique opportunity to bring international esports recognition to the world’s most played mobile MOBA title.” He highlighted the event as a testament to Tencent’s dedication to mobile esports, marking the beginning of the Global Invitational Series with the Honor of Kings Invitational Season One in Istanbul on March 2. This initiative is aimed at fostering a competitive platform for players worldwide.
This announcement follows on the heels of Tencent’s recent commitment to Honor of Kings esports, including the launch of the Global Invitational Series and a $15 million USD investment to bolster the esports ecosystem. The series will kick off with Season 1 in March, featuring 12 teams competing for a $300K prize pool, with the top performers advancing through the series to potentially be crowned the world champion at the Invitational Championship.
Additionally, Honor of Kings is expanding its reach, launching in new regions such as the Middle East, North Africa, Türkiye, Eastern Europe, and South Asia. The game has already attracted over one million pre-registrations, signaling a bright future for its global community.
