Fnatic defeated Cloud9 3-2 in a thrilling finish to the Red Bull Home Ground Grand Finals, establishing their supremacy in the professional VALORANT Invitational competition. High-stakes action filled the fiercely contested final, as Cloud9 took an early lead but was eventually outclassed by Fnatic’s growing skill. Cloud9 finished in second place for the second time in a row, while Fnatic triumphantly returned the Red Bull Home Ground trophy to the EU.

Epic Showdown at Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena

The competition provided spectators with an incredible online and live experience, taking place at Tokyo, Japan’s legendary Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena. Since Friday, eight strong teams have fought valiantly to secure a berth in the Grand Final. In the clash of titans, Cloud9 and Fnatic faced off in a best-of-five match to determine the ultimate winner.

Both Fnatic and FUT Esports showed off their strength in the group stages, winning 2-0 and moving on to the semi-finals with relative ease. Notably, FUT Esports shown their tenacity by soundly beating the reigning champs, 100 Thieves, 13-3. Sadly, local favorites SCARZ and Japanese team Fennel were eliminated during the group stages. ZETA Division, DRX, Cloud9, and 100 Thieves progressed to the Saturday Playoffs.

The Playoffs kicked off with DRX dominating 100 Thieves with a 2-0 win, setting the stage for a new champion to emerge. Cloud9 faced ZETA Division in a closely contested match, with ZETA securing the first map, but Cloud9 made a resounding comeback to claim the following two maps and secure victory. Their momentum continued in the Semi-Finals, where they secured a 2-1 win against FUT Esports, the top-performing team in the Friday Group Stages. On the other side of the bracket, Fnatic left no room for mercy as they triumphed over DRX, allowing their opponents to win only seven rounds across two maps, ultimately securing their spot in the Grand Final.

The Grand Final witnessed an intense five-map showdown between Cloud9 and Fnatic. Fnatic clinched the first map but stumbled in the next two, seemingly handing the victory to Cloud9. However, a spectacular comeback on Lotus brought the scores level, setting the stage for a gripping final match on Haven. In the decisive map, Fnatic surged ahead early and maintained their lead, ultimately sealing the deal with a convincing 13-5 victory.

Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev, the newly crowned Red Bull Home Ground Champion, expressed his elation, saying, “I’m feeling really good as we’ve won here twice now. I’m really happy with everyone, the boys, everyone in the team, and the staff for supporting us. Having a great match today, we played seven maps and it was really hard, but we came out on top.”

The tournament was expertly hosted by VALORANT personalities Iain Chambers and Adam Savage, supported by a team of seasoned commentators, including Tom ‘Tombizz’ Bissmire, Mitch ‘MitchMan’ McBride, Seth ‘Achilios’ King, and Clinton ‘Paperthin’ Bader, ensuring an unforgettable esports spectacle.
