BoomLand Takes Over Cantina Royale Development with Plans for Major Relaunch

Share

The development of Cantina Royale, a mobile shooter based on the MultiversX blockchain, has formally been taken over by Web3 gaming platform BoomLand. BoomLand, which is well-known for its play-to-earn gaming concept, has advanced the integration of web3 elements into conventional mobile games, especially with its popular game Hunters On-Chain.

The game has trouble gaining popularity after the untimely death of Alexandru Palade, the CEO of Cantina Royale, in 2024. The game’s servers will be temporarily shut down on March 28 to make room for what the firm refers to as a “massive relaunch” within its ecosystem, with BoomLand now taking the lead in development.

A Fresh Start with Asset Swaps and Renewed Focus

BoomLand has assured existing players that their investments in the game will not go to waste. Current Cantina Royale asset holders will participate in a 1:1 NFT swap that matches the rarity of their current assets. Additionally, a token swap will allow players to exchange 7 CRT tokens for 1 BOOM token, further integrating the game into BoomLand’s broader platform.

In a statement on X, the company expressed its commitment to honoring the game’s legacy while bringing renewed energy: “BoomLand will take the lead on development moving forward, breathing new energy into the project while respecting everything that’s been built so far. With a veteran team in mobile gaming, a deep belief in the future of web3, and a clear vision for what comes next, BoomLand is ready to take Cantina Royale to new heights.”

This strategic move strengthens BoomLand’s multigame ecosystem, which has thrived through its approach of enhancing traditional mobile games with blockchain elements.

BoomLand’s decision to acquire Cantina Royale reflects the increasing trend of consolidation within the blockchain gaming sector. With market conditions remaining volatile, collaborations like this provide struggling projects a second chance while expanding the portfolios of established platforms.

The upcoming relaunch will test BoomLand’s ability to breathe new life into Cantina Royale, offering the game a fresh opportunity to compete in the dynamic web3 gaming space. Industry watchers will be keen to see how BoomLand leverages its expertise to reshape the shooter’s trajectory.
