Fantasy tennis platform Fungiball has introduced new licensed player cards featuring Alexander Zverev, the world’s number 4 tennis player. To mark this release, Fungiball launched an exclusive flash sale of Zverev cards on May 24th. The auction included 4 Silver cards and 4 Gold cards, each representing four skills: Service, Mental, Return, and Power. Zverev’s skills are rated as 90 Power, 87 Service, 87 Mental, and 70 Return, providing useful boosts for players’ avatars.
Fungiball, an officially licensed Web3 tennis game, allows players to create avatars using skill cards from a collection of over 500 unique cards. As an official partner of the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), the platform features more than 300 licensed players, exclusively available on this blockchain-backed game.
In Fungiball, avatars are powered by four types of skill cards: Service, Mental, Return, and Power. To participate, players must own at least one card for each skill type. The real-life performances of the tennis players influence the skill cards weekly. Users can buy skill cards from the official marketplace, which includes both a primary and secondary market. The primary market offers new skill cards that have not been previously owned or used, while the secondary market facilitates player-to-player trading, allowing users to buy, sell, and list their own cards.
Players can compete in weekly tournaments that follow an ATP-like calendar to win rewards, including exclusive skill cards, cryptocurrency, match tickets, collectibles, and potentially exclusive access to tennis players and VIP experiences. As players improve their rankings, they unlock higher-level skill cards, granting access to advanced competitions with more valuable prizes.
