Leading metaverse platform The Sandbox is launching an exciting new event dubbed “Rise of the Memecoins,” which will take place from July to September. Popular memecoins like PEPE, DOGE, SHIB, BONK, and DEGEN are honored in this event, which also gives participants the chance to win fun prizes like tokens and NFTs.
The “Rise of the Memecoins” event offers gamers a multifaceted experience with multiple rewards to be earned. Memecoins, SAND tokens, and a number of unique NFT avatars are among them. Every memecoin, namely PEPE, DOGE, SHIB, BONK, and DEGEN, will feature an own selection of limited-edition avatars. Each collection has 10,000 avatars with skins divided into Normal, Gold, and Diamond categories.
To qualify for one of these avatars, participants must hold at least 5 SAND and a specific memecoin token on either the Polygon or Ethereum network. For example, if you hold 50 BONK and 200 DOGE, the DOGE avatar will be allocated based on the higher USD value of your holdings. The top 80% of participants will receive a Normal skin, 17.5% will get a Gold skin, and the top 2.5% will earn the rare Diamond skin.
The snapshot for determining avatar eligibility will be taken at a specific time, with a limit of 10,000 avatars per collection. To ensure you receive an airdrop, you need to be among the top 10,000 holders of the memecoin at the time of the snapshot. The Sandbox will offer a preview of these avatars on July 29, with the official airdrop scheduled for August 5.
In addition to the avatar distribution, holders will gain access to an exclusive event featuring a Game Jam contest. This event will spotlight the best experiences from the contest, including various quests. Participants who complete quests will earn memecoins, with reward multipliers depending on the number of quests completed and the total user participation.
For those keen on showcasing their creativity, The Sandbox is hosting two contests: the VoxEdit Contest and a Game Jam. The VoxEdit Contest challenges participants to design meme-themed wearables, with a bonus of 100 SAND awarded for creating a complete set. The prize pool includes 10,000 SAND, distributed among the top 10 entries. Additionally, the first 100 valid participants who do not place in the top 10 will each receive 30 SAND. Submissions for the VoxEdit Contest will close on August 6 at 11:59 PM UTC.
Recently, The Sandbox secured $20 million in funding, boosting its valuation to $1 billion. This event further demonstrates its commitment to innovation and community engagement within the metaverse.
