Strong interaction during its genesis period is revealed by Nexon’s Nexpace, which is still growing its MapleStory Universe Web3 environment. The NXPC token was announced around this time, which coincided with two significant playtests. It was launched on June 24, 2024. Over 31.5 million on-chain transactions were made possible by Nexpace during this period, and the company registered over 972,000 unique active wallets (UAW).
The total UAW reached 506,000 during the second playtest, which was place from November 20 to December 23, 2024, and peaked in 241,000 daily active wallets. Impressive retention rates were also seen, with 41% of players remaining active by day 32 and 54% of gamers returning by day seven.
Even if NXPC hasn’t launched yet, there was a lot of trading activity in MapleStory Universe. Strong player engagement with the blockchain economy was demonstrated by the more than 13 million trades that took place during the playtests. In-game NESO tokens were acquired by players and used for trade commissions and upgrades. Players place a high value on digital assets, as seen by the notable 76% expenditure of the NESO supply.
According to Dominic Jang, vice president and chief business officer at Nexpace, Web3 economies that are fueled by well-known intellectual property have enormous potential. “A trillion-dollar industry still trapped in web2” is how he characterizes the change. With features like clear pricing and genuine ownership, Nexpace seeks to fully on-chain the MapleStory intellectual property.
Despite challenges in the Web3 gaming sector, Jang remains optimistic about MapleStory Universe and the broader on-chain economy. With high engagement and early trading activity, Nexpace sees this as a promising foundation for the future of blockchain gaming.
