Gunzilla Games has crossed a new milestone in its web3 journey, securing full compliance for its GUN token under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). By achieving this, the company has cleared a major hurdle for expanding its gaming-crypto ecosystem across Europe.
Good to know
Gunzilla worked with Dentons, the global law firm, to complete the process, giving GUN an official green light as a utility token rather than a security. The news was shared on X: “
We now have a fully EU-compliant digital asset that will be legally tradeable across various European platforms. Not as a security, but as a utility token.”
MiCAR sets a single framework for crypto assets across the EU, replacing older national regimes such as the VASP system. Under the law, service providers are now classified as CASPs (Crypto-Asset Service Providers), and once authorized, they can operate throughout the EU. For Gunzilla, that means GUN can be listed and traded legally in every member state without navigating different local rules.
Gunzilla stated:
“GUN Token’s compliance demonstrates full legal alignment under MiCAR. Regulatory clarity establishes GUN as a utility token, NOT a security, enabling broad adoption without legal uncertainty.”
With compliance in hand, Gunzilla gains several advantages. The GUN token can now reach more players in Europe, while institutional investors gain confidence from the legal clarity. The recognition of GUN as a utility token also supports its use directly in gameplay, strengthening the GUNZ ecosystem. As the first gaming asset approved under MiCAR, GUN holds a valuable first-mover position.
Gunzilla CEO Vlad Korolov called the approval a turning point:
“Achieving MiCAR compliance is more than a regulatory milestone — it’s a defining moment for Gunzilla and the GUNZ ecosystem. By becoming the first gaming token approved under the EU’s new framework, we’ve not only secured regulatory clarity but also set a precedent for how web3 and gaming can thrive together.”
The company plans to roll out the GUNZ mainnet in Europe this September. Players will be able to migrate their accounts and assets from testnet to mainnet and start using GUN within Off The Grid, Gunzilla’s cyberpunk battle royale title. The move comes on the back of a busy summer, with OTG launching on Steam, the GUN token going live on Solana, and trading volume on OpenSea and other platforms hitting strong numbers.
Gunzilla is also pushing engagement through Avalanche Battle Pass Season 2, where Off The Grid players can earn rewards like AVAX tokens, NFTs, and even physical prizes.
With MiCAR compliance secured, Gunzilla now has the legal clarity and infrastructure to expand its vision of building a web3-native AAA gaming ecosystem across Europe.
