At the Skyesports Souvenir 2025 National Esports Championship, India’s best Counter-Strike 2 team, Gods Reign, won. As part of Bengaluru GAFX 2025, the competition was hosted at The Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru from February 27 to March 1. The event, which was organized by Skyesports and sponsored by the Karnataka government through ABAI, featured the best esports players in India.
The competition began with online qualifiers, where teams from across the country fought for a spot in the Main Event. Gods Reign, Big W, Victores Sumus, and Flashback Gaming secured their places in the on-ground finale. The four teams then battled in a double-elimination bracket, with Gods Reign dominating throughout. The home team won all three of their matches without dropping a single map, defeating Victores Sumus in the upper bracket finals and Flashback to reach the Grand Finals.
In the championship match, Gods Reign faced Victores Sumus once again. The opening game on Train saw Gods Reign take a convincing win. However, Victores Sumus put up a stronger fight on Dust II, building an early lead. Gods Reign staged a comeback in the late game, forcing overtime before securing a 16-12 victory to claim the title.
Expressing his excitement after the win, Rossi Kiran from Gods Reign stated, “It feels incredible. I am happy to play on this stage. I hope there will be another tournament like this in Bengaluru, and I hope to win that trophy as well.”
Skyesports Souvenir 2025, powered by AMD and backed by the Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS), is a Valve-licensed ranked event. This recognition allows Indian teams to improve their global standings. Gods Reign saw a massive jump in the Valve Rankings, moving from 157th to 76th globally and from 13th to 8th in Asia.
Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports, emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “Gods Reign’s huge jump in rankings is a testament to the global impact of Skyesports’ events, where we not only nurture local talent but also provide a pathway for teams to achieve international glory. This is something we will continue doing with our IPs as we further collaborate with state governments for esports initiatives like this one.”
To build on this momentum, Skyesports announced the Skyesports Pro League 2025, a new Counter-Strike 2 tournament set for March 2025. More details will be revealed soon.
