Decentraland, a leader in blockchain-based virtual worlds, has recently shared their 2023 achievements and upcoming plans in their annual report. Key highlights include new updates and exciting events, reinforcing Decentraland’s commitment to enhancing user experience and community engagement.
In 2024, Decentraland is set to introduce several product and platform enhancements. These include improvements to both web and desktop clients for Windows and MacOS, along with advancements in their Marketplace, Web Editor, and SDK 7. The desktop client will undergo a major overhaul for better performance, ensuring a stable and efficient user experience to accommodate Decentraland’s growth and future developments. Additionally, the introduction of a new authentication dApp will streamline transactions, logins, and sign-in processes, supporting both Web3 and popular social logins like Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, and Discord. This move is aimed at making Decentraland more user-friendly and secure.
For the web client, Decentraland plans to roll out a simplified avatar creation process. This feature will allow new users to easily select and customize premade avatars before diving into Genesis City. Improvements to the welcoming NPCs in Genesis Plaza are also on the agenda, aimed at helping new users navigate Decentraland’s offerings more effectively.
The Foundation is also focusing on community-driven events. They’ve announced an open call for creators to submit proposals for funded event artist slots, providing opportunities for community members to design unique experiences. Two major events are already on the calendar for this year: Decentraland Wellness Week from January 24th to 26th and Decentraland Art Week from March 26th to 28th. Additionally, the team plans to participate in various real-life events, starting with the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this March.
Another exciting development is the launch of the Decentraland Ambassador Program, set to kick off early this year. This program aims to facilitate local events globally, fostering a more connected and engaged community.
