Bright Star Studios, the team behind the eagerly anticipated MMORPG Ember Sword, has announced a strategic partnership with Ethereum-based layer 2 network Mantle. This collaboration aims to revolutionize asset ownership and streamline onboarding for both seasoned and new gamers.
Bright Star Studios is enhancing Ember Sword’s gameplay by integrating Mantle’s modular Ethereum rollup technology. This advancement will enable secure, scalable transactions with minimal fees, creating a seamless blockchain gaming experience. Mark Laursen, CEO and Founder of Bright Star Studios, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Our alliance with Mantle is a significant milestone as we begin to release the game to users regionally. By integrating Mantle’s advanced blockchain capabilities, we are enhancing how players control their in-game assets and delivering an unprecedented onboarding experience for all gamers who love MMORPGs, regardless if they are web3 natives or not.”
The integration will leverage Mantle’s technology to facilitate transparent transactions within Ember Sword’s player-driven marketplace, providing players with true ownership of their in-game assets. Joris Huijbregts, Founder and Chief Development Officer of Bright Star Studios, noted that this collaboration will help create a “fruitful and engaging player economy” and enable integration with top tools and partners within the Mantle ecosystem. This will contribute to a “scalable and sustainable user journey.”
In 2022, Bright Star Studios transitioned Ember Sword from Polygon to Immutable X, and now, with the new partnership, players can expect asset migration updates soon. The recent closed beta for Ember Sword, which wrapped up last month, was a significant step forward. The beta saw over 100,000 play sessions, totaling nearly 41,000 hours of gameplay, equivalent to almost five years. During this phase, players had opportunities to earn Canavar Head NFTs, which could be used in a raffle for Solarwood land plots and compete for $EMBER tokens in team-based challenges.
Looking ahead, the upcoming public test will introduce Mantle’s integration into Ember Sword along with several new features. Players can anticipate enhancements such as Quests, Treasure Maps, Vending Machines, Caravans, a Friends List, and cosmetic merging capabilities. Additionally, the Capital will become a safe zone, and three new professions—fishing, cooking, and jewelry creation—will be added. The game will also feature easier navigation, new areas, cosmetics, resources, bosses, creatures, and weapon variations.
