The blockchain platform Arbitrum has announced a large-scale project to advance the Web3 gaming sector. The business intends to provide game creators access to 225 million ARB tokens, or around $215 million, through its Gaming Catalyst Program over the course of the following three years.
The worldwide gaming business is expected to reach $190 billion by 2025, but there are a number of obstacles that the sector must overcome, including expensive development expenses, scalability constraints, and security concerns. With this initiative, Arbitrum hopes to address these issues by offering a wide range of materials and tools to game makers.
The initiative received overwhelming support from the Arbitrum decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), with over 75% voting in favor when it passed on June 7th.
Arbitrum plans to attract top game developers to its platform by offering substantial grants of up to 500,000 ARB (approximately $483,000) for new and early-stage developers. Established studios can also apply for larger investments, potentially including value-sharing components such as tokens or equity.
The program aims to attract 200 to 300 developer applications, ensure over 20% of Web3 games use Arbitrum, launch 25 new Orbits, and achieve the highest net migrations among layer-2 networks.
In addition to direct funding, the initiative will allocate remaining funds to infrastructure, bounties, and operational expenses to nurture the overall gaming ecosystem on Arbitrum.
The Arbitrum Foundation has been actively supporting various projects and initiatives. It funded a crypto-related film by Oscar-winning filmmaker Shane Boris and partnered with Transient Labs to enhance the digital art experience on Arbitrum. The foundation also launched Orbit, a fully permissionless chain offering dedicated throughput and improved gas fee reliability.
On March 18, Arbitrum unveiled the Atlas update, which optimized transaction fees and speeds to save expenses and improve customer experience.
Recently, the Phase 3 Grants Program was introduced with the goal of developing and growing the decentralized application (dApp) ecosystem. In order to provide customized support for every initiative, this phase includes grant tracks depending on project phases, growth potential, and kind.
By establishing new benchmarks for the industry, the effort demonstrates Arbitrum’s dedication to promoting innovation and growth in the Web3 gaming space.
