AFK Gaming, a leading media platform in the gaming and esports sector, has recently published its comprehensive report titled India’s Gaming & Esports Landscape 2025. The report provides a detailed analysis of the industry’s growth trajectory, key trends, and potential challenges, offering valuable insights for both existing and new stakeholders in the space. This marks a significant contribution to the gaming industry, especially following its recent acquisition by NODWIN Gaming.

India’s Gaming Industry Poised for Growth

The India’s Gaming & Esports Landscape 2025 report reveals a cautiously optimistic outlook for the Indian gaming and esports industry, with projections indicating a 10%–25% revenue growth for the sector in the coming year. According to data collected from business leaders and industry professionals, 60% of the surveyed stakeholders believe that new game releases and an expanding player base will be the primary drivers of growth. Additional key enablers highlighted include investments (40%), collegiate tournaments (30%), and favorable government policies (30%).

As part of their strategy for the future, Indian esports organizations are turning their attention to developing new intellectual properties (IPs), with 40% of respondents prioritizing this. This focus on innovation is crucial as organizations look to diversify their offerings and capture more of the growing player base. Moreover, 90% of respondents agree that Battle Royale games are the most promising mobile genre for 2025, while Hyper-casual games are favored by a small minority.

The survey also revealed confidence in the continued dominance of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), with 60% of respondents believing it will maintain its leading position. However, 40% anticipate that rival titles, particularly Free Fire and VALORANT, may challenge BGMI’s supremacy in the coming years.

Looking ahead, 70% of industry professionals believe that Indian games will achieve global success in 2025 by focusing on culturally resonant content, local themes, and language preferences. This localized approach is expected to drive deeper player affinity both in India and abroad.
