Zed Run Comes to an End as Virtually Human Prepares for Zed Champions

Share

Australian Web3 studio Virtually Human has announced the closure of their horse racing game, Zed Run, following issues with community involvement and diminishing asset values. On February 28, 2025, the game will formally close after six years of play. However, as the business turns its attention to a new project, Zed Champions, this shutdown signifies a transition rather than an end.

Zed Run’s Sunset and New Opportunities for Players

Players will have a month to claim, purchase, or exchange prize badges prior to the switch to Zed Champions as part of the shutdown procedure. In the next game, these badges will be transferable, granting access to new horses. Nevertheless, Zed Champions will not be able to use Zed Run’s horse NFTs.

To celebrate its final days, Zed Run is hosting a special “sunset” event to retain its player base. This event features week-long seasons where players can multiply their XP, climb ranks, and collect engagement points. The event culminates in the Sunset Stakes, a three-day competition starting on February 26, offering a $100,000 ZED token prize pool.

Despite the excitement surrounding the event, the announcement has sparked anger within the community. Many NFT holders have expressed frustration on X, with some labeling the move a “scam” or “rug.” Nonetheless, Virtually Human remains optimistic, promising, “This is just the beginning … We promise, 2025 is gonna be one helluva year for ZED.”
