Animoca Brands has reshaped its senior leadership team as the digital assets company builds deeper into AI, the agentic web, decentralized environments, and tokenized real-world assets.
Good to Know
The main change sits in finance. Shaun Kraft will take over as CFO after holding senior finance and operating roles across technology, financial services, and digital assets. He previously worked as chief financial officer and chief operating officer at MoneyHero Group, where he helped grow the company from an early-stage startup into a Nasdaq-listed personal finance platform.
Kraft also served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at CMCC Global, a digital asset investment firm. Earlier, he advised financial institutions on M&A and strategic deals at Lazard and Perella Weinberg Partners. Since 2024, he has run an independent strategic advisory practice with selected executive and board roles at growth-stage technology companies.
Animoca Brands has spent years building a large Web3 investment and product network, with interests across gaming, blockchain, digital property rights, AI, and RWAs. Kraft now arrives as the company continues work around institutional products and public-market readiness.
Jared Shaw, CFO since 2022, will become a strategic advisor after a succession process that lasted several months. He worked with the board and executive team to identify and onboard his replacement, and he will keep supporting the next audited financial statements.
Shaw also helped professionalize the finance function, build stronger investor relationships, improve the capital position, and advance the path toward relisting.
Meanwhile, Brian Chan moves up from deputy chief operating officer to chief development officer. He joined Animoca Brands in 2022 and has worked across growth strategy, governance, internal processes, institutional partnerships, and tokenized RWA projects.
Chan also helped lead product work on NUVA, the institutional-grade RWA marketplace co-created by Animoca Brands and Nuva Labs. His new seat on the Executive Committee gives that institutional product work a larger role in company planning.
Alan Lau, chief business officer, will become chairman of GROW Digital Wealth. GDW, a portfolio company and partner of Animoca Brands, is building a platform for independent financial advisors. The platform aims to help advisors offer digital assets, including RWAs and cryptocurrencies, along with traditional finance products to family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
Lau will also keep working with several projects inside the Animoca Brands ecosystem and portfolio. His earlier work included Open Campus, Investments & Partnerships, and RWA businesses.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, said:
“As we enter our next phase of growth across AI, the agentic web, and RWAs, it is essential that our leadership reflects both deep institutional discipline and a builder’s mindset. We are fortunate to retain the expertise of both Alan and Jared as they transition into their new ecosystem and advisory capacities. Meanwhile, Shaun and Brian bring exactly the kind of world-class leadership that will help drive Animoca Brands’ long-term strategic execution, and I look forward to working closely with them.”
Evan Auyang, group president of Animoca Brands, said:
“These transitions strengthen our executive team at a pivotal moment, as we scale our consumer and institutional businesses. Shaun’s proven track record in leading finance functions alongside his public listing experience makes him exceptionally well suited to the role of CFO, while Brian’s elevation to the Executive Committee is a recognition of his impact in our institutional strategy. I look forward to working with them both.”
Shaun Kraft, the incoming chief financial officer of Animoca Brands, said:
“Animoca Brands occupies a genuinely unique position at the intersection of AI, the agentic web, and digital assets, and this is exactly the moment to build. I’m here to help translate vision into world-class financial execution, and I couldn’t be more energized to get started.”
