Splinterlands has opened its Summer Fun event with new skins, Gift Boxes, ranked play rewards and two battle rulesets for players to test.

The main event hook is loot. Summer Fun Gift Boxes now give players a route to exclusive skins, Glint, packs, Fortune Draw entries and Tokenized Energy Bombs. Those Energy Bombs can be used for ranked play energy, which makes them useful for players grinding more matches during the event window.
Skins are spread across several places, not only the Gift Boxes. Players can also find them in Ultimate Chests, Minor Chests and the Sparks Shop. Limited-supply skins in the Sparks Shop add a collector angle without forcing every player into the same reward path.
Splinterlands also added Rise of the Exemplar and Power of Three. Rise of the Exemplar lets the Exemplar card enter battles, while Power of Three gives all 3-mana units +1 power when a battle starts. For a card battler built around mana costs and lineup reads, small ruleset changes can quickly change deck choices.
The update also improves the game flow. The Artisan Quarter now gives clearer crafted item details, market navigation has been cleaned up, and Frontier mode gives newer players extra rewards. Frontier remains important because it lets players try Splinterlands without an early spend, which can help bring new users into the Hive blockchain card game.
Splinterlands still runs with SPS as its main token and uses blockchain ownership across cards and items. The recent Electroneum link also added ElectroFox, a card tied to Land activity and Voltage Points, giving the game another partner-based reward loop. Splinterlands release notes also show ongoing 2026 updates around shops, rewards, Land items and player systems.
Splinterlands summed up the event with a simple player-facing line: “Good luck hunting those Summer Fun skins.”
Seasonal events help older blockchain games bring back players without resetting the full economy. Cosmetics, non-transferable reward items and event-only chests can create activity while limiting market flooding.
