The biggest esports organization in Asia, Hero Esports, has formally changed its name, starting a new phase of growth. In order to spur additional growth in the competitive gaming industry, the company, formerly known as VSPO, is now coordinating its domestic identity with its global brand. Important leadership changes were also announced on October 8, 2024, when Danny Tang became CEO and Dino Ying became Executive Chairman.

A Strategic Shift for Global Expansion

The rebranding of VSPO to Hero Esports signifies a crucial step in the company’s strategy to expand beyond its stronghold in Asia. As a leader in esports tournaments and content creation for nearly a decade, Hero Esports has invested heavily in shaping the esports landscape. Its commitment to innovation was further demonstrated in September 2024 with the launch of the Esports Asian Champions League (ACL), a prestigious international esports tournament.

“Today marks a significant milestone for Hero Esports as we continue our growth trajectory to become a leading international esports organization,” said Danny Tang, the company’s new CEO. “We are well positioned to identify and develop new opportunities both domestically and internationally, and we look forward to aligning our expansion with an equally fast-growing esports industry.”

Along with the rebranding, Hero Esports has introduced a refreshed mission and set of values. The company’s mission, “Empower esports,” aligns with its vision to “create the premier esports experience of the future.” Hero Esports is committed to fostering inclusion, diversity, and transparency while nurturing a passion for esports among both its employees and its global fan base.

Under the leadership of Executive Chairman Dino Ying, Hero Esports aims to collaborate with global governing bodies such as the International Olympic Committee and the Esports World Cup Federation. These efforts are designed to elevate the esports industry on a global scale. With the esports market projected to nearly double from $54 billion in 2023 to $98 billion by 2028, Hero Esports is positioning itself at the forefront of this explosive growth.
