The parent company of well-known companies Roll7 and Intercept Games, Take-Two Interactive Software, has revealed intentions for studio closures and severe personnel cutbacks, which will affect all employees, amid strategic upheavals.
Roll7, a prestigious London-based company known for Rollerdrome and the OlliOlli series, was about to close after being purchased by Private Division in November 2021. Take-Two Interactive Software announced that it will be closing Roll7 and providing severance agreements to the impacted employees.
Intercept Games, based in Seattle and known for developing Kerbal Space Program 2, found itself in a similar predicament. Despite the game’s ongoing Early Access availability on platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store, Take-Two Interactive Software disclosed plans to close the Seattle office, resulting in approximately 70 job cuts, mirroring the size of Intercept Games’ workforce.
Take-Two Interactive Software had previously announced intentions to streamline its workforce, targeting a reduction of around five percent, equivalent to approximately 600 employees, by the end of 2024. These recent closures and layoffs are part of the broader restructuring efforts aimed at optimizing operations and resource allocation within the company.
In response to inquiries about the layoffs, Alan Lewis, Vice President of Communications at Take-Two Interactive Software, stated that the company is refraining from disclosing further details at this time. However, Lewis reassured stakeholders that ongoing updates and developments for Kerbal Space Program 2 remain a priority for the company.
