Spotify is adding fitness content to its app, giving users access to workout videos, wellness creators, playlists, and Peloton classes from one new Fitness hub.
Good to Know
Spotify has spent years adding more than music, from podcasts and audiobooks to video and physical books. Now it wants to connect workout music with the workout itself.
Users can find the new content through the Fitness hub or by searching “fitness” inside Spotify. Classes and playlists will work across mobile, desktop, and TV apps.
The launch includes creators such as Yoga with Kassandra, Caitlin K’eli Yoga, Sweaty Studio, Chloe Ting, Pilates Body by Raven, Abi Mills Wellness, and Sophiereidfit. Their content includes music and instructional video.
Peloton brings the largest catalog to the rollout. Spotify Premium users in select markets can access more than 1,400 on demand classes from Peloton instructors without needing Peloton equipment. The classes are ad free and include strength, cardio, yoga, meditation, and running.
Most workouts are in English, with some Spanish and German options. Users can also download workouts for offline access.
Spotify said fitness already has a strong base on the platform. Nearly 70% of Premium subscribers work out monthly, and users have created more than 150 million fitness playlists.
The company has not shared deal terms with Peloton. Creators can use Spotify monetization tools, including the Spotify Partner Program, while Spotify may test more paid fitness options later.
