Nvidia Expands RTX 50 Series With Affordable Graphics Cards

Share

Nvidia is refreshing its GPU lineup with the launch of the GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti, aimed at users looking to upgrade from older RTX 3060 or RTX 4060 models without spending too much. These cards join the RTX 50 series with support for DLSS 4, improved hardware, and a focus on 1080p gaming.

Good to know

  • RTX 5060 priced at $299 launches in May.
  • RTX 5060 Ti arrives April 16 with 8 GB and 16 GB versions.
  • No Founders Editions, only third-party models available.

The RTX 5060 will land in May with a $299 price tag, while the 5060 Ti rolls out earlier on April 16. The Ti model will be available in two versions—8 GB for $379 and 16 GB for $429.

Despite their lower prices, both cards pack noticeable upgrades. DLSS 4 support includes Multi Frame Generation, which boosts performance by using AI to predict and generate extra frames. Players should see smoother gameplay, especially in newer titles optimized for DLSS.

Games like Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows are expected to perform better with these cards compared to the older RTX 3060, which lacks DLSS 4 support entirely. Even the RTX 4060, which only partially supports the latest DLSS tools, falls behind in this area.

Nvidia has bumped up the number of CUDA, ray tracing, and Tensor cores in both cards compared to previous generations. The RTX 5060 Ti, in particular, delivers a 73% boost in Tensor cores and 34% more ray tracing cores over the 4060 Ti, alongside a modest increase in CUDA cores.

That said, the 5060 Ti still lags behind the newer RTX 5070. It comes with 28% fewer CUDA cores and has less memory bandwidth. So while it’s an upgrade for mid-tier users, it won’t match higher-end cards on raw performance.

Nvidia has opted not to produce a Founders Edition for either the 5060 or 5060 Ti. All cards will be manufactured by third-party partners, so models and pricing may vary depending on the brand and region.

This approach means gamers will likely see a wide variety of cooling systems, factory overclocks, and card designs—something that could affect both availability and value.
