NFL Rivals Season 2 Launches with Exciting New Features and Major Upgrades

NFL Rivals, the popular mobile football game developed by Mythical Games, is set to launch its highly anticipated second season, “Year 2,” on September 5. This release coincides with the kickoff of the National Football League (NFL) season, promising an exciting start for both football fans and gamers alike.

The first season of NFL Rivals, which was officially licensed and attracted significant attention, saw over 5 million downloads and 115 million games played. For the upcoming season, Mythical Games is introducing a range of new features designed to enhance gameplay. These include innovative game modes, unique pack drops, and new engagement opportunities for fans.

New Partnerships and Features

In a notable development earlier this week, Mythical Games announced a partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl champions. NFL Rivals has been named the team’s official mobile game, bringing branding opportunities to Arrowhead Stadium and other collaborative initiatives. John Linden, CEO of Mythical Games, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “We have a slate of activations, in and out of the game, to deepen our player engagement with the NFL Rivals brand and football season.” He further highlighted the goal of increasing player interaction and community involvement with the game.

NFL Rivals allows players to step into the role of team general managers, strategizing plays and competing against various league teams. While maintaining its core as a free-to-play game, NFL Rivals distinguishes itself with optional NFT player cards. Since last August, the addition of an in-game NFT marketplace has transformed the game, facilitating the trading of digital collectibles. Linden noted that the marketplace has significantly elevated the game’s experience, adding, “The introduction of a new player-vs-player (PvP) mode is slated to have a similar effect on the future of the mobile game.”

The integration of Web3 technology has been pivotal for NFL Rivals, with about 20% of players upgrading their wallets to interact with NFTs minted on the Mythos Chain, which is built on Polkadot. Daily transactions on the secondary marketplace have surged from a few hundred to over 8,000 in anticipation of the new season. Linden expressed optimism about the future, stating, “All of which points to a very bright future for NFL Rivals and Web3 gaming at large.”
