Honor of Kings Primed for Indian Debut in June 2024

Share

Exciting developments await gaming enthusiasts as Honor of Kings, a renowned multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Level Infinite under Tencent, is on the verge of making its grand entrance into the Indian gaming scene, with a projected launch date set for June 2024.

The much-anticipated launch will be orchestrated through a strategic rebranding of Clash of Titans, an established MOBA title currently accessible in India, published by Actoz SG, a prominent Singapore-based gaming publisher. Actoz SG, along with its parent company Actoz Soft based in Korea, are reportedly affiliated with the China-based Shengqu Games. Our past investigations revealed Tencent’s collaboration with Actoz SG to oversee the game’s operations in India, following regulatory actions against Tencent’s Arena of Valor.

Market Expansion Plans

Presently available across various territories such as MENA, Turkey, Eastern Europe, and South Asia (excluding India), the decision to leverage the Singapore entity for launching Honor of Kings appears to be a strategic move aimed at addressing the Indian government’s apprehensions regarding data privacy and national security concerns.

India has been at the forefront of imposing bans on several Chinese-owned or developed games since 2020, including the initial prohibition of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). However, there have been recent developments, with the ban on BGMI being lifted, and the game now being published under South Korea’s Krafton, setting the stage for Honor of Kings’ potential entry into the Indian gaming market.

The impending introduction of Honor of Kings into India’s gaming landscape is anticipated to spark immense excitement among gamers, offering them a fresh and captivating gaming experience. With meticulous planning and adherence to regulatory guidelines, Tencent aims to carve a niche for itself in the Indian gaming ecosystem, while simultaneously addressing pertinent concerns surrounding data security and national interests. As the gaming industry continues to evolve, strategic maneuvers such as this underscore Tencent’s commitment to global expansion and innovation.
