Facebook introduced a set of AI driven creative tools aimed at making profiles, Stories, and posts more dynamic as it works to stay relevant with younger audiences.
Good to Know
With more than 2.1 billion daily active users, Facebook remains one of the largest social platforms in the world. Yet attracting Gen Z users has become a growing challenge. The latest product update leans heavily on artificial intelligence to reshape how people present themselves across the app.
Rather than redesigning the feed, Facebook focused on expression tools. Animated profile pictures now bring motion to static photos. A still headshot can appear to wave, form a heart shape, or wear a virtual party hat. For best results, Facebook recommends a clear image of a single person facing the camera. Users can select photos from their camera roll or existing uploads. Additional animation styles are expected later this year.
Stories and Memories also received a makeover. A new feature called Restyle uses Meta AI to transform uploaded images. After selecting a Story or resurfaced Memory, users can tap Restyle and enter a text prompt or choose from preset themes. Options include anime, illustrated, glowy, and ethereal styles. Controls allow adjustments to mood, lighting, and color, and users can swap backgrounds to settings such as a beach or city skyline.
The update also targets standard text posts. A rainbow “A” icon unlocks animated backgrounds, ranging from falling leaves to rolling ocean waves. Seasonal designs are scheduled to arrive in future releases.
Meta push into AI driven creativity reflects a broader effort to modernize the flagship platform. While Facebook still commands massive scale, younger audiences increasingly gravitate toward apps built around visual expression and short form content. AI based customization offers a way to narrow that gap without overhauling the entire interface.
