EA has announced the first official competitive ecosystem for Battlefield Redsec, confirming both the Elite Series and the Open Series as structured tournament circuits that begin in December 2025. The reveal follows months of speculation across the esports scene, where many players expected EA to commit to long-term competitive plans for the new battle royale title.
Good to Know
Rumors of a dedicated competitive environment circled long before Redsec launched, with several Warzone professionals hinting at a potential switch if the new game met their expectations. EA made the circuit official on November 20, stating: “these initiatives represent the first steps toward a long-term competitive environment for the franchise, built in partnership with the community.”
Season 1 of the Elite Series runs from December 10 to December 18 across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. Each region follows a structure of six Battle Royale matches leading into a Gauntlet elimination round reserved for the top eight squads. Gauntlet matches use fixed map combinations and extended timers to build a more tactical endgame.
Teams compete across three Qualifying Match Days, earning Elite Series Points that determine placement. The top 25 squads in each region will then advance to the Season Finals on December 18.
EA pre-selected 50 team captains for each region. These captains draft squads of four, forming 150 teams worldwide for the inaugural season.
Prize pools vary by region:
Some teams already announced their full rosters as practice sessions begin.
Alongside the Elite Series, EA created the Redsec Open Series, starting December 12, 2025. Any squad within the three regions may register. Scoring focuses on a team’s ten best Battle Royale matches and ten best Gauntlet games across the season.
The top 250 squads from each region will move into the Open Finals on January 17, 2026. From there, the top eight squads from each region qualify directly into the next Elite Series season.
The Open Series prize pool totals 30,000 dollars, divided equally between the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
EA intends to keep expanding the Redsec circuit beyond the first season. Developers plan to test more formats and explore requested additions such as spectator tools, improved match visibility, and deeper custom lobby functions. Feedback from both tournament tracks will guide adjustments heading into 2026.
