Pennsylvania set a new monthly gaming revenue record in May, helped by online casino growth, steady casino floors, and another large tax return for the state.
Good To Know
Pennsylvania online casino revenue again did much of the heavy lifting in May. Internet gaming brought in $254.8 million, up 9.44% from $232.9 million in May 2025. That made iGaming the largest revenue segment in the market for the month, ahead of retail slots.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National led Pennsylvania online gaming with $98.9 million, a 9.7% increase from a year earlier. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $69.8 million, up 9%. Rivers Casino Philadelphia added $40.8 million, a 10.5% rise.
The state collected about $117.7 million in tax revenue from online gaming alone. Pennsylvania taxes online casino games at higher rates than most U.S. markets, so iGaming growth has a direct effect on public revenue.
The full May total covered casinos, online gaming, sports wagering, video gaming terminals, and fantasy contests. The $625.5 million result passed the previous monthly record of $623.1 million, which Pennsylvania set in January 2025.
Retail slots also helped the Pennsylvania gaming market reach a record month. Slot revenue rose 3.2% to $232.1 million, compared with $224.9 million in May 2025. Operators had 24,885 slot machines active across the state, up from 24,347 one year earlier.
Parx Casino Philadelphia led slots with $35.5 million in revenue. Wind Creek Bethlehem followed with $26 million, while Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated $24 million.
Retail table games added $81.2 million, up 1.66% from $79.9 million in May 2025. Fantasy contests also grew, reaching $1.12 million, up 3.3%.
Sports betting went the other way. Pennsylvania sports betting handle fell to $595.6 million, down 9.1% from $655.4 million in May 2025. Taxable sports betting revenue dropped 11.4% to $52.6 million. Even so, sports wagering still sent nearly $19 million in tax revenue to the state.
Valley Forge Casino Resort led the sportsbook market with $201.1 million in wagers and $21.6 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows handled $189.1 million and reported $15.1 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino York recorded $3.1 million in revenue from $44.6 million in handle.
Among all operators and categories, Hollywood Casino at Penn National posted the highest total gaming revenue in May with $115.4 million, up 7.8% year over year. Valley Forge Casino Resort ranked second with $104.5 million, down 1.2%. Rivers Casino Philadelphia reached $60 million, up 3.7%.
Video gaming terminals produced $3.57 million in adjusted revenue, down 3.14% from $3.68 million in May 2025. By the end of May, every licensed VGT operator offered the maximum five terminals at each of Pennsylvania 75 qualified truck stops.
