The rise in popularity of sportsbetting continues in New Jersey where sportsbooks generated more than $950m in bets and a record $82.6m in revenue in January 2021 thus representing a 55% increase year-on-year. The majority, with over 90%, coming from online operations. Meanwhile, New Jersey state online casino- and poker- operators generated combined revenue of just under $104m in January for a 90% year-on-year gain.
Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania’s online gambling market set a revenue record in January of this year.
Pennsylvania state licensed gambling operators report combined January revenue of $311.1m for close to a 3% gain year-on-year while nearly twice the revenue of December 2020 when COVID restrictions forced land-based operations to close business. Land-based operations accounting for a revenue of little over $190m in January 2021.
Pennsylvania online- and retail- sportsbooks took a good step forward by generating a record of $615m in bets in January with a revenue of $34m. Online casino- and poker- operators saw revenue hitting a record of $80m, a year-on-year increase of 476%.
Michigan
Online gaming operators are off to a good start in Michigan where online gaming and sportsbetting operators launched on January 22. Until the end of the month they have reported a combined revenue of $42,7m of which $29.4m coming from online casino- and poker. A $13.3m revenue was generated by sportsbook with a total of $115.2m in bets placed for the ten-day period.
