  • Online casino products produced 82% of total operator revenue.

Ontario online casino activity did most of the work in March. iCasino handle rose nearly 26% from the same month last year and generated $318.5 million in revenue. That gave casino products 82% of total operator earnings in the regulated Ontario iGaming market.

The wider market also kept growing. March handle edged past the previous record of $9.52 billion from January, while revenue rose 30% year over year. The $387 million monthly revenue total beat February by 13%, although it stayed below the $426 million high reached in December 2025.

Sports betting looked weaker by comparison. Ontario sportsbooks handled $1.08 billion in March, putting the vertical back above $1 billion. However, that total fell 9% from March 2025 and made it the lowest monthly sports betting handle since September.

Poker had a better month, even if it remains a small part of the market. Peer-to-peer poker reached a record $183 million in handle and $6.9 million in revenue. Even with that high, poker still represented less than 2% of total Ontario iGaming activity.

Active accounts reached 1.235 million, up 17% from a year earlier. Even so, March had the lowest active account total since September, partly due to several platform shutdowns during the period.

Across Q1 2026, Ontarians wagered $27.8 billion on licensed iGaming sites. Operators collected $1.13 billion in revenue during the three-month stretch.

The growth has also kept political attention on gambling advertising. Bill 107, the Stop Harmful Gambling Advertising Act, would amend the Gaming Control Act of 1992 and bar licensed operators and marketing partners from promoting gambling through any channel.

Supporters point to public health data after the regulated market opened in 2022. Calls to ConnexOntario, the province mental health and addictions helpline, rose 144% after launch. Around one in three Canadians aged 18 to 29 now take part in online gambling, while one in four in that group report serious harm.

Critics argue that a full ad ban could make licensed platforms harder to separate from unlicensed operators. The European Casino Association has warned that illegal operators take more than 70% of online gambling revenue in some markets with strict ad rules.

For now, Bill 107 faces long odds. The Liberal Party introduced the proposal, but it does not control the provincial parliament.
