The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported a total revenue of $284.3 million for iGaming and online sports betting in November, marking a 12.1% increase from the previous month. The record-setting numbers underline the growing popularity of digital gambling in the Great Lake State.
iGaming contributed $226 million to November’s total revenue, exceeding the previous high of $220.7 million recorded in October. This represents a month-on-month increase of 2.4%. Online sports betting revenue saw even greater growth, rising 76.7% month-on-month to $58.3 million.
The sports betting handle reached $650.2 million, setting a new record for Michigan. This reflects a 16% month-on-month increase, highlighting the state’s expanding interest in online sports betting.
In terms of adjusted gross receipts, the total for November reached $240.4 million. iGaming accounted for $203.3 million, while sports betting contributed $37.1 million. Year-on-year, iGaming revenue grew by 28.9%, and sports betting saw a substantial increase of $36.8 million.
Operators in Michigan paid a total of $44.4 million in state taxes during November. iGaming accounted for the majority with $42.5 million, while online sports betting contributed $1.9 million.
Detroit’s three casinos also paid $11.2 million in taxes to the city. iGaming was responsible for $10.6 million, while online sports betting added $564,069. Combined, the casinos generated $108.4 million in revenue for the month.
Additionally, tribal operators contributed $5.2 million in taxes to their governing bodies.
Michigan currently has 15 commercial and tribal operators offering iGaming, with 12 of them also providing online sports betting services. This diverse landscape continues to foster competition and growth in the state’s gaming industry.
In November, BetMGM announced the integration of player pools across its poker platforms in Michigan and New Jersey. This move enhances the player experience by allowing users from both states to compete in the same games and tournaments.
