The Michigan Gaming Control Board has started offering Michigan residents free access to Gamban gambling-blocking software as part of its responsible gaming work.

MGCB said the new partnership gives residents another way to limit access to online gambling, including licensed casinos, sports betting apps, offshore sites, and unregulated platforms.
Gamban works across devices and blocks gambling websites and mobile apps while leaving non-gambling services available. The company also says the software is hard to remove or disable after installation, which can help users who want a firmer barrier between themselves and betting products.
The tool can also point users toward local help services when they look for support with gambling-related harm.
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams called Gamban “a free, proven tool to block access to online gambling instantly and across all their devices.”
Cost can stop some users from trying blocking software, and Gamban director of external affairs Matt Zarb-Cousinsaid the Michigan partnership addresses that gap:
“We are delighted to partner with the Michigan Gaming Control Board to make Gamban free for people where cost might otherwise be a barrier.
“When someone takes the first step toward quitting gambling, they will be made aware of all the services available in the state via the Gamban app, while it works to block gambling sites and apps in the background.”
The program comes as Michigan continues to operate one of the larger regulated online gambling markets in the US, with state regulators adding more consumer protection tools around legal iGaming and sports betting.
