Denmark allows online gambling operators to use IT equipment from any country

Spillemyndigheden, the Gambling Authority of Denmark, has made a clear-cut shift from its protective policies. The authority has mended the regulations for online licensees specifically regarding the use of IT equipment on which player data is being stored.

While Danish regulations previously stipulated that the IT equipment used by online service providers must have originated in Denmark, new regulation breaks with this. Following the new regulation that came into force May 30, online gaming services can now use IT equipment that originates outside of the country.

The IT equipment is still subject to inspection and approvol by the Danish Gambling Authority before online games and bets can be offered to Danish players.

The new regulation will like pave the way for further opening up Denmark’s online gambling sector with more operators able to comply with license requirements.
