Significant participant in the web3 gaming space, Sky Mavis, has gained media attention for its recent decision to break away from collaborations with game creators Bowled.io and ACT Games. This action demonstrates Sky Mavis’ dedication to both its strategic approach to gaming integration and its Ronin blockchain ecosystem.
Over the course of the previous year, Sky Mavis has demonstrated its belief in the Ronin blockchain, which is known as “the king of gaming chains.” Ronin places a higher priority on quality than quantity by carefully choosing a select few titles for integration. This strategy guarantees players a well-curated game experience.
The breakup of ACT Games and Bowled.io is in line with Sky Mavis’s strategic plan for Ronin. The TCG Zoids Wild Arena by ACT Games will close on Ronin, and NFT holders will get RON token compensation in lieu of cash. This decision deviates from Ronin’s goal due to changes in ACT’s leadership.
In a similar vein, Bowled.io decided to move from Ronin to BNB for its operations. Even though Sky Mavis led the investment round for Bowled.io in February 2024, the firm places a strong emphasis on collaborating with developers that embrace Ronin’s community attitude.
Because of its strong player base, which is mostly composed of Pixels, Sky Mavis continues to be a dominant force in web3 gaming. Games developed by third parties, such as Apeiron, Kaidro, and Wild Forest, are still exciting. Further solidifying its place in the market is the return of Sky Mavis’s own Axie titles.
Alekander Larsen, COO and co-founder of Sky Mavis, restated the company’s justification for the layoffs and emphasized that it will only work with developers who support its web3 vision.
