L3E7, a cyberpunk-style open-world RPG, has secured a grant from the Arbitrum Foundation. The team behind the anime-themed blockchain game plans to use the support to keep developing the project while continuing to build on Arbitrum’s high-speed, low-cost network.
The game blends real-world map data with anime-style storytelling and third-person RPG combat. Players explore a 3D virtual version of Earth and battle through “City Retake Operation” mode using anime characters. Rewards are earned by taking part in location-based fights across the map.
L3E7 describes itself as the first 3D location-based service (LBS) game built on the blockchain. The team aims to deliver an experience that combines anime visuals, real-world exploration, and on-chain ownership. The game runs entirely on Arbitrum, a layer 2 network known for fast block times and low gas fees.
“With their support, we’re building the next-generation LBS open-world RPG, combining real-world exploration, anime-inspired storytelling, and on-chain player ownership — all running on Arbitrum’s high-performance network,” the team said.
The exact terms of the grant have not been disclosed. However, based on current offerings, the funding likely comes from the Gaming Catalyst Program (GCP), which is part of ArbitrumDAO’s broader initiative to back game developers and infrastructure teams building in its ecosystem.
The GCP provides more than just funding. It also offers support through marketing, technical guidance, and partnerships. The program is open to projects at any stage—from early ideas to launched games with active users. While the grant amounts are not published, similar programs often award flexible packages depending on project needs.
L3E7 shared the news on its official X account and noted Arbitrum’s growing presence in anime-style Web3 gaming. The network has become a go-to choice for developers in this genre thanks to its sub-second block times and average gas fees of less than one cent per transaction.
For developers working on Arbitrum, other grant options are available too. The Arbitrum DAO Grant Program supports milestone-based projects focused on ecosystem growth, while the Alchemy-Arbitrum Grant Program offers up to $500,000 in infrastructure credits for those building or migrating to Orbit rollups.
Developers interested in joining the ecosystem can explore the foundation’s active programs on its official site and submit proposals for a chance to receive funding or support.
