Last Sunday, in the game between the Tampa Buccaneers and Chicago Bears, quarterback Tom Brady threw his 600th career touchdown pass, thereby making history not only by being the first NFL player to hit this milestone mark but also in one fan’s life.

It was wide receiver Mike Evans who ran Brady’s touchdown pass into the end zone and then handed the ball to a fan wearing a jersey with his name on it, unknowingly it was the GOAT’s 600th touchdown.

Brady nearly lost ownership of the ball, however Byron Kennedy who took the ball home, well understood the significance of the ball and sent it back to the quarterback, reportedly in exchange for a meet and greet with the seven-time Super Bowl. Nonetheless, Brady and the Buccaneers offered the fan additional compensation … in Bitcoin. Brady said on Monday:

“There were a lot of negotiations in order to get the ball back. Byron realized he lost all of his leverage once he gave the ball away […] I’m also giving him a Bitcoin. That is pretty cool, too. At the end of the day, I think he is still making out pretty.”

The Buccaneers also handed Kennedy two signed team jerseys, a helmet with Brady’s signature, Mike Evans game cleats, a jersey signed by the wide receiver, season tickets, as well as a $1,000 credit at the team’s store, according to Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud.

Despite the package deal Kennedy received, many believe it didn’t uphold the value the ball represents. According to Ken Goldin of sports memorabilia auction company Goldin Auctions, the ball could eventually bring in between $500,000 to $900,000.

Brady, brand ambassador for crypto platform FTX, is complete crypto aficionado. He plans to auction of his 600th touchdown pass as an NFT on his own platform Autograph.
