An Oklahoma City man robbed off a bank after gambling at a casino. He was on his way to the second casino, where he was arrested by the FBI.
Frankie Paul Gabaldon, 28 was charged in Oklahoma City federal court last week in the bank robbery offence, and has “significant gambling problems” according to his girlfriend.
Gabaldon was gambling at Riverwind Casino in Newcastle, after which he robbed off the First United Bank nearby and before going to another casino, Newcastle Casino. The man entered the bank at about 3:45 p.m. August 14 and demanded money from the bank teller after showing a dark object in his waistband posting it as a weapon.
Gabaldon fled away with $300 and ran towards the parking lot, revealed the surveillance video. The investigators recovered a video of the same man leaving the Riverwind Casino about five minutes before the robbery. Gabaldon’s girlfriend identified the robber as Gabaldon, who is an employee at the Riverwind Casino.
Gabaldon’s girlfriend told the officials he was unemployed after being fired from Riverwind Casino for “gambling on deck” and was experiencing financial difficulties and significant gambling problems.
Gabaldon was arrested from Newcastle Casino with $1400 in his pocket and denied robbing the bank. He was wearing similar clothing to the robber’s, according to the officials. The judge ordered his release on bond to a halfway house, from where he fled and returned after two hours. Gabaldon was arrested again for violating the bond and was re-released on the same conditions.
