Construction has officially begun on Caesars Republic Sonoma County, a new resort casino project from Dry Creek Rancheria and Caesars Entertainment. The groundbreaking ceremony took place Saturday, setting the stage for a full transformation of River Rock Casino, with a target opening in summer 2027.

Good to know

  • Caesars Republic Sonoma County will include a 100-room hotel, over 1,000 slot machines, and a spa.
  • The project will feature wine country views and multiple dining options, including a steakhouse and wine bar.
  • Caesars Rewards members will be able to earn and redeem credits at the new resort.

Located above Alexander Valley Vineyards and just off Highway 101, the upcoming property blends scenic beauty with upscale gaming and entertainment. It also marks the expansion of the Caesars Republic brand into Northern California.

Dry Creek Rancheria selected Caesars Entertainment to lead both the development and day-to-day management of the new resort. Financial backing was provided by Citizens, with Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. (GLPI) taking the lead on real estate financing.

Chris Wright, Chairman of the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians, called the groundbreaking a major milestone. He said:

“This partnership with Caesars Entertainment represents more than just a new chapter in our casino’s story — it’s a bold leap into the future for our Tribe and our community.”

The future Caesars Republic will offer a casino floor with more than 1,000 slots and 28 table games, along with a luxury spa, pool, and fitness center. Food and drink options will include a steakhouse, Asian concept, upscale café, and quick-service spots, along with several bars—one dedicated to wine, complete with valley views from the outdoor deck.

Caesars’ President and COO Anthony Carano commented on the brand’s expansion: “On the heels of a successful launch of Caesars Republic in Lake Tahoe, we couldn’t think of a better place than Sonoma County… to bring this incredible destination to life.”

Citizens’ Jason Miller said his team is proud to help fund the resort, calling it a strong long-term investment for the Tribe. GLPI CEO Peter Carlino echoed that sentiment, saying their involvement fits the company’s strategy and aligns well with existing Caesars partnerships.
