oyd Gaming has started building its new casino project in the Las Vegas Valley. Executives joined Henderson City Council members to officially break ground on the development with a ceremonial shovel event.
The upcoming site, named Cadence Crossing Casino, will eventually take the place of Jokers Wild on Boulder Highway. Jokers Wild will stay open until Cadence Crossing is ready. The new property will be built in stages and sits within a 50,000 square-foot area. Plans include a 10,000 square-foot casino floor and 450 slot machines, along with food venues that are still being planned.
The launch marks Boyd Gaming’s first new build in two decades. The company first revealed the project in February. Cadence Crossing is positioned near the fast-growing Cadence master-planned community in Henderson, making it part of the area’s wider redevelopment efforts.
Henderson City Mayor Michelle Romero joined Boyd executives at the site and reflected on the transformation along Boulder Highway.
“I’m so pleased to be here today in such good company to join you on the groundbreaking for this amazing project, and to give you an idea of how long I’ve been here, I remember when Jokers Wild was built. Last fall, we began work on the reimagined Boulder Highway project, and the $170 million investment on these 7½ miles will have a positive impact across many facets of our community.”
