On February 26, the Sandbox will introduce Builders’ Challenge 3, giving developers another chance to earn $SAND tokens by creating captivating metaverse experiences. Significant changes have been made in this most recent edition to improve involvement, inventiveness, and fairness.
Unlike previous challenges, this iteration features a shorter four-week duration, allowing for faster community feedback and updates. The event has also eliminated leaderboards and boosters, shifting the focus to individual creativity rather than competition. The goal is to encourage developers to create high-quality gaming experiences without pressure from rankings.
The reward system has also changed. Instead of a fixed prize pool, creators can earn up to 50,000 $SAND per experience, based on player engagement and participation. The new model ensures that popular experiences don’t overshadow smaller ones, creating a more balanced distribution of rewards. Anti-cheat measures have also been strengthened to maintain fairness.
Before the event starts, developers must use Game Maker 0.11 to build and upload their experiences on their LAND NFTs in order to participate in Builders’ Challenge 3. Earnings will only be calculated for participation during the February 26–March 26 competition period. The rewards are available on the official Claims page and will be disbursed by April 9.
