Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson, known worldwide for his Fortnite skills, is stepping into a new role that blends gaming with blockchain. As of May 19, he has joined OpenSea as its first global gaming ambassador, marking a big step for web3 gaming.
Good to know
Mongraal’s journey started with competitive Fortnite, where he built a name through high-level gameplay and rapid edits. He later proved his skill translated beyond traditional games when he topped the leaderboard in Yuga Labs’ Dookey Dash. That win earned him the “Golden Key” NFT, which he sold for around $1.63 million, showing the real-world value of blockchain-based achievements.
Now, as part of OpenSea, he aims to bridge competitive gaming with web3. In a blog post, Mongraal explained that he sees blockchain gaming as a natural fit—players compete, earn valuable items, and actually own their digital assets. That ownership is a key reason he supports the technology. Unlike traditional games where assets can disappear if an account is banned or a game ends, blockchain keeps everything traceable and transferable.
Web3 is adding new layers to gaming careers. As content creation and sponsorships already outweigh tournament winnings, tools like tradable NFTs and decentralized prize pools could give pro gamers more ways to earn.
Mongraal is not leaving streaming or esports behind—he plans to keep playing, streaming, and creating content. However, he is also taking a role in educating players about blockchain mechanics and helping reduce NFT stigma in the gaming world.
