Immutable has confirmed a new collaboration with GAMEDIA, the Dutch studio best known for multiplayer action titles. The partnership was revealed through Immutable’s official X account, teasing a new game coming to Immutable Play later this year.
Good to know
Although no official title was named, the announcement video contained multiple clips of Spider Tanks, a PvP brawler first launched in partnership with Gala Games. The footage quickly fueled speculation that GAMEDIA could be relaunching the game on Immutable’s platform.
“Stay tuned for their game coming to Immutable Play later this year,” Immutable wrote, praising GAMEDIA for its track record in both web2 and web3.
Spider Tanks originally debuted in 2021 under Gala Games, marketed as one of the first web3 esports with NFT tank parts and its own token ($SILK). Despite early momentum, the partnership deteriorated. By 2023, GAMEDIA accused Gala of neglect, missed commitments, and even legal intimidation.
In September 2024, a U.S. court dismissed Gala’s lawsuit over Spider Tanks’ ownership, leaving GAMEDIA with control of the IP. Since then, the studio has been quiet—until signs of renewed activity emerged through posts with Immutable’s leadership earlier this year.
Now, with GAMEDIA aligned with Immutable, fans believe Spider Tanks may finally make a comeback. Immutable has been steadily growing its portfolio, hosting projects like Ubisoft’s Might & Magic and the Web3 reboot of Habbo Hotel.
If Spider Tanks is indeed returning, the shift to Immutable Play could give GAMEDIA the freedom to realize the game’s original vision and reintroduce one of web3’s most talked-about titles.
