Housemarque, the studio behind Returnal, is developing a new third-person action game called Saros, set to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5. Sony Interactive Entertainment is publishing the game, which will feature a deep narrative and evolving gameplay mechanics.
Saros takes players to Carcosa, a lost off-world colony trapped under an eerie eclipse. The story follows Arjun Devraj, a determined Soltari Enforcer searching for someone important to him. Housemarque aims to deliver an emotional character-driven experience, exploring the sacrifices needed to shape the future.
Rahul Kohli, known for roles in Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher, brings Arjun to life. The studio has praised his performance and collaboration on the project. More details about the supporting cast and story will be revealed later.
A key difference from Returnal is the introduction of permanent progression. Every death reshapes the world, but players can upgrade weapons and suit enhancements, ensuring they come back stronger. The game’s evolving mechanics aim to offer a fresh experience while maintaining the fast-paced action Housemarque is known for.
Housemarque has promised a deeper look at Saros later this year, including extended gameplay footage. The team is also working on pushing the PlayStation 5 hardware to enhance visuals, audio, and overall immersion.
