Directive Games has announced that Civitas, its 4X strategy MMO, is moving from Ethereum to Immutable zkEVM. The migration brings faster transactions, lower gas fees, greater scalability, and smoother player onboarding through Immutable Passport integration. This upgrade gives developers more time to focus on gameplay while offering users gas-free trading and seamless access to game features.

The transition gives Civitas native access to Immutable’s full web3 gaming stack, making it easier to launch assets and content drops. Players holding Chosen of Civitas NFTs will continue using their existing Ethereum-based assets while still benefiting from the integration with Immutable’s Layer 2 ecosystem. The NFTs, which are still listed on OpenSea, come with gameplay benefits like generating in-game resources.
