The XRP Ledger is about to get more playful. B3, the web3 gaming company that first gained traction on Coinbase’s Base network, is now rolling out its XRPL Gamechain to bring casual and onchain gaming to Ripple’s ecosystem.
Good to Know
B3’s expansion represents an effort to give XRP more utility outside of trading. By anchoring gaming directly on the ledger, the team hopes to attract new users and keep existing holders more engaged.
B3 is launching XRPL Gamechain with an arcade hub called Xcade. The rollout starts small, with five easy-to-pick-up games on testnet that will go live later this fall. These titles are designed for mobile play and appeal to both crypto newcomers and seasoned gamers.
“Gaming is universal to all of us. We have games on our phones we play now, or grew up playing video games as kids,” said Viktoriya Hying, co-founder of NPC Labs, the studio behind B3. “Through our own research conducted when we were at Coinbase, the team realized the most successful way to have users participate and engage more meaningfully onchain is through creating fun, frictionless, and novel experiences. Onchain games allow for that.”
Compared to Ethereum, Solana, and Immutable, the XRP Ledger has seen little activity in web3 gaming. Yet XRP is one of the most widely held tokens, and many holders are looking for more use cases. With its low fees and fast transactions, the ledger is well-positioned for arcade-style play and micro-rewards.
“XRP is a highly held token looking for new use cases,” Hying explained. “We aim to create novel ways to use that token, reward users for their participation, and grow the number of daily active users in the XRP community.”
B3’s first batch of games is built for quick fun:
Each game comes with live scoring systems, token rewards like $RUN, $LUCKY, $RACER, and $TAXI, plus competitive leaderboards. It’s simple gameplay with a crypto twist.
The full arcade is expected to open later in the fall. B3 has already committed to updating the game catalog weekly, so players can expect fresh content on a rolling basis. Tournaments, community game nights, and additional reward mechanics are also in the pipeline.
Thanks to XRPL’s EVM-compatible sidechain launched earlier this year, developers can add more advanced logic and interactive features. That means more flexible tournaments, better reward systems, and smooth onboarding for new players.
