South Korean video game developer Wemade has teamed up with Whampoa Digital, a Singapore-based investment firm, to create the Wemade Web3 Fund. With an impressive $100 million, this fund is designed to invest in blockchain gaming ventures, focusing especially on the Middle East. The goal is to boost the use of blockchain technology in gaming.
Wemade is also building the Wemix Play Center in Dubai’s DIFC Innovation Hub, a commercial space for blockchain gaming. Companies benefiting from the fund are expected to set up offices in this center, promoting mutual support and learning.
Aureole Foong, Senior Partner at Whampoa Group, said this partnership is a step into new areas within the digital asset industry and will drive innovation in the Middle East’s rapidly growing Web3 sector.
Henry Chang, CEO of Wemade, noted their collaboration with Whampoa Digital will allow them to share insights on blockchain technology. Both companies are pooling their unique skills to strengthen this partnership.
Previously, in March, Wemade had partnered with Space and Time. This collaboration was aimed at improving the infrastructure for blockchain gaming. Space and Time’s platform merges on-chain and off-chain data in a single trustless setting, enhancing gaming experiences on the blockchain. Wemade used Space and Time’s tools to give gamers more control and ownership of their digital assets.
