With five exciting competitions spread over six weeks, university students from all around the UK and Ireland are invited to participate in the UNIVERSITY Esports Spring 2025 Season. In Overwatch 2, League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and VALORANT, players will compete against one another, fostering the spirit of rivalry and teamwork that characterizes grassroots esport.
The following season is anticipated to attract even more participation after the Winter 2024 Season, which saw over 600 teams and 3,000 individuals compete weekly. The UNIVERSITY Esports community currently has over 20,000 members from more than 110 campuses, demonstrating the increasing interest in collegiate gaming.
UNIVERSITY Esports, operated by NUEL—a subsidiary of GGTech Entertainment—goes beyond just competition. It fosters a thriving community while providing valuable career-building opportunities in broadcasting and event management.
During Winter 2024, students from Nottingham Trent University’s Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies collaborated with UNIVERSITY Esports staff to produce the Grand Finals broadcasts, gaining hands-on experience in esports production. Additionally, the UNIVERSITY Tour returned, hosting in-person events at Nottingham Trent University and Staffordshire University. These gatherings connected students with industry professionals and highlighted esports’ professional and social benefits.
Registrations for the Spring 2025 Season are now open, with tournaments running through February and March. The competition offers a £2,550 prize pool, providing an added incentive for teams aiming for victory.
