Ubisoft to Discontinue Online Support for Iconic Game Franchises

Share

The well-known video game publisher Ubisoft has announced that it would no longer be supporting several games from well-known series, including Assassin’s Creed, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon, online. Ten games will be affected by this change, and the online closure is scheduled on January 25, 2024.

With this most recent wave of game shutdowns, users will say goodbye to the online features they have come to rely on. Online play modes, Ubisoft account access, Ubisoft Connect reward possibilities, and other online features will no longer be available for the impacted titles.

Ubisoft regularly disables online capabilities for its older or less well-known titles, claiming the necessity to manage resources wisely and the expenses of server maintenance. The corporation is able to concentrate on new and future game titles thanks to this tactic.

Affected Games and Platforms

As of January 25, 2024, several games will see their online capabilities come to an end on various platforms. The affected titles and platforms are as follows:

  1. Assassin’s Creed II (Xbox 360)
  2. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (Mac)
  3. Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3)
  4. Assassin’s Creed Revelations (PC)
  5. Ghost Recon Future Soldier (PC)
  6. Heroes of Might and Magic VI (PC)
  7. NCIS (PC)
  8. Splinter Cell: Conviction (Xbox 360)
  9. R.U.S.E. (PC)
  10. Trials Evolution (PC)

The decision by Ubisoft to discontinue the online components of these games is in accordance with industry standards, guaranteeing a more efficient use of resources while concentrating on providing outstanding gameplay experiences in both their present and upcoming products.

This action confirms Ubisoft’s dedication to preserving a modern gaming environment, which was demonstrated by the company’s earlier decision in October 2022 to disable internet capability for games like Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
