On February 21, Telegram will introduce new guidelines that will make The Open Network (TON) the only blockchain available for Mini Apps. In order to hasten this shift, TON is providing developers switching from other blockchains with cash incentives, technical support, and marketing opportunities.
Depending on the number of users an app has, TON’s program offers ad credits of up to $50,000. While projects with 10,000–1 million users can obtain credits ranging from $100 to $10,000, those with more than 5 million users are eligible for the maximum amount.
Migrating to TON unlocks several advantages, including a scalable infrastructure, low transaction costs, and secure smart contract functionality. Developers will also benefit from exposure through Telegram Ads, enabling them to reach a broader audience. Additionally, TON ensures technical and marketing support throughout the migration process.
To qualify, Mini Apps must currently run on a different blockchain and not yet be integrated with TON Connect. Telegram’s advertising policies, which restrict certain content like gambling, apply to all applicants.
The migration process requires full integration with TON Connect, ensuring compatibility with wallet interactions and transaction authentication. Applications close on February 20, and approved projects must complete migration within a month. Ad credits will be distributed two weeks after verification.
Selection criteria include user engagement, retention rates, and the project’s overall contribution to TON’s ecosystem. Preference will be given to Mini Apps that introduce innovative features and enhance Telegram’s blockchain-driven services.
